World Cup 2026: Morocco beat Haiti 4-2 but Isidor steals the show
Four for Morocco, but Haiti did not go quietly
Morocco beat Haiti 4-2 at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, and the scoreline tells only half the story. This World Cup 2026 Group C fixture was rather more entertaining than the final margin suggests.
Morocco dominated possession, holding 69% of the ball and producing 3.76 expected goals (xG, a measure of chance quality) to Haiti's 0.67. They mustered 11 shots on target against Haiti's two, and forced eight saves from the Haiti goalkeeper. On the balance of play, the four goals were earned.
Yet Haiti refused to be a footnote. Wilson Isidor's strike — described elsewhere as phenomenal — gave them genuine hope, and a partly cloudy, warm afternoon in Atlanta produced six goals in all. Morocco simply had more, and finished the job late on.

From a Bono own goal to a 4-2 flurry
The opening went the wrong way for Haiti. Inside ten minutes, an own goal credited to Bono handed Morocco the lead, an unfortunate start that flattered the favourites.
Morocco doubled their advantage on 39 minutes through Achraf Hakimi, only for Haiti to respond almost immediately. On 43 minutes, Wilson Isidor, set up by James-Léo Duverne, produced the goal of the night to make it 2-1. The lead was restored deep into first-half stoppage time, Ismael Saibari finishing off a Hakimi assist on 45+1 to send Morocco in 3-1 ahead.
The second half was quieter until Morocco's triple change around the hour mark paid off. Soufiane Rahimi, on as a substitute, struck on 78 minutes with Chemsdine Riad providing, and then turned creator for Yassine Gessime's 89th-minute goal to make it 4-2. Haiti's frustration showed in three yellow cards — two of them on 79 minutes for Nazon and Placide, and a late caution for Casimir in stoppage time.

The right winner, the wrong amount of goals
The futbol.so community leaned firmly towards Morocco, and that part was never in doubt. The consensus pick was a Morocco win, with a tidy 3-0 the most popular scoreline. Fans in Colombia, Argentina and Spain all leaned the same way, settling on comfortable Moroccan victories.
So the result was called correctly. The shape of it was not. Nobody had Haiti scoring twice, and certainly nobody had a Bono own goal opening the account. The official model, which gave Morocco a commanding chance of victory, actually nailed the exact 4-2 line — a rare case of the algorithm out-predicting the crowd on the detail while everyone agreed on the headline.
- Colombia
- Argentina
- Spain
Official forecast: 4-2

No geo restrictionMorocco finish with seven points and a place secured in the Round of 32, second in Group C. Haiti, with no points from three matches and a goal difference of minus six, are out of the group stage — but they leave with an Isidor goal that will be replayed for some time.
Attention now turns to the knockout rounds for Morocco, who will fancy their chances if Hakimi keeps creating like this.
