World Cup 2026: Japan Sweep Tunisia Aside 4-0 in Group F
Ueda's double seals a 4-0 stroll in Monterrey
At the World Cup 2026, Japan brushed Tunisia aside 4-0 in their Group F meeting at the Estadio BBVA in Monterrey. The scoreline rarely flatters a winner, and it does not here. Japan had 62% possession, registered 5 shots on target to Tunisia's none, and posted 2.13 expected goals (xG, the quality of chances created) against a desperately thin 0.05 for Tunisia.
Daichi Kamada opened inside four minutes and Ayase Ueda took it from there, scoring either side of a Junya Ito strike to finish with a brace. Tunisia mustered a single effort inside the penalty area all evening and never tested the Japanese keeper beyond the routine. Four big chances created to zero tells its own story.
The result leaves Japan second in Group F on five points and through to the Round of 32. Tunisia, bottom on no points with a goal difference of minus ten after three games, are eliminated.

From the fourth minute, it was one-way traffic
There was no settling-in period. Kamada finished a Keito Nakamura assist after four minutes, and the contest's complexion was set early. Ueda doubled the lead on the half-hour, nodding home a Ko Itakura delivery, and Tunisia were two down before the break.
The interval brought a double Tunisian change — Ismael Gharbi and Mohamed Amine Ben Hamida on for Elias Saad and Dylan Bronn — but the second half offered no reprieve. Ito made it three on 69 minutes, set up by Ueda, who then helped himself to his second on 83 from Kaishu Sano's pass. Japan rotated freely thereafter, withdrawing Ueda moments after his fourth-goal contribution, with Tunisia shuffling their pack to the final whistle. No cards were shown all night.

The right winner, the wrong margin entirely
The futbol.so community was firmly behind Japan, with the consensus pointing to a measured Tunisia 1-2 Japan. Argentina's and Colombia's followers leaned the same way, the former tipping a tighter 0-1. The direction was correct; the scale was not. Nobody quite saw a four-goal demolition coming.
The official forecast also favoured Japan and, as it happens, landed the exact 0-4 result on the nose — a rare case of the model out-calling the room. Everyone read the winner; few read the rout.

For the Samurai Blue, the question now is who awaits in the knockouts; for everyone else, it is whether Ueda can keep this scoring streak going.
